This is not a full review of the new Depeche Mode album "Sounds of the Universe." I must say that the track "Peace" has blown me over. Big time!
I heard the album today and in short I will say that it is analog heavy. They weren't kidding bout using a lot of vintage synths. The intro to "In Chains" says it all.
But "Peace" Oh man - I just love it. Somewhere out there Phillip Oakey is screaming "That's MY song." Just imagine Phil singing this and think of the pre-Dare Human League albums and you'd know what I mean. I daresay that this track borrows a lot from early Human League.
I'm staying away from anything YouTube related to DM or any review of any of their shows. I don't want any spoilers. And August is so far away!

I have stopped listening to it. It's Pet Shop Boys' 'Yes' for me all the way.
It's been well over a month now and it hasn't really grown on me as much I had hoped. Oh well. There are only a few tracks that have grabbed me.
But you are right about "Yes" it's amazing! This is an excellent release for PSB! I've been listening to it since.
V, I am so tempted to order the 'Love etc' single.
And also the forthcoming single, 'You can see me coming'.
Some good news for you, 'Peace' will be the next single after 'Wrong'.
My little sister liked 'Yes' too.
Meanwhile another friend preferred 'Sounds of the Universe' over 'Yes'. He's more of a R&B kind of person. Can you tell that I dislike R&B? Heheh.
I know another diehard Depeche Mode fan who is very disappointed too.
By the way, I think the best new Depeche Mode track is 'Ghost'. No, it's not on the album. It's in the expensive box set. I didn't buy it. Go look it up on youtube. Amazing track. It shows that Depeche Mode is capable of writing good songs but their direction... doh...
I kept trying to listen to the new Depeche Mode release. It's not growing on me at all.

"Yes" is turning out to be the best album of the year so far.
I have heard "This Used to Be The Future" and I agree that it's a brilliant song.
I have not heard "Ghost"!! I hope I can get it seperately on a single CD or something. I didn't feel like paying $110.00 for the whole Depeche Mode Universe package at the moment.
